Event Info

Swimmer OSINT CTF 2026 is a 12-hour CTF with all challenges being OSINT. Max team size is 6 and the event is held online.

I played with teammates from $cr1pt_K1dd13$. Due to the 6-member limit, we split into two teams. I competed in 0$1N7_K1dd13$ with GregorSec, th3mujd11, Scorpius, and Codru.

I searched for combinations of:

The article clearly states that Cathay Pacific operated flight CX8100 to commemorate the Kai Tak Airport flight path anniversary.

The YouTube footage clearly shows Adrian Scott seated on the right-hand side, matching the seat diagram in the challenge image.

I used Gemini to extract event details, confirming:

  • Event date: 28 August 2025
  • Venue: Shibukawa Civic Hall, Gunma

I located the venue in OpenStreetMap, enabled Map Data, clicked the building outline, and obtained the way ID: 628293186.

The controller dialogue references: Gokokuji Road, Otowa.

Using road curvature and nearby buildings visible in the footage, I matched the location in Google Maps and extracted the coordinates.

This confirmed the event occurred on 7 December 2025.


Conclusion

This CTF heavily favored Japanese-language OSINT and media tracing. It significantly improved my skills in:

  • event correlation
  • video-based geo-location
  • archival document analysis
  • multilingual OSINT

We didn’t place at the top, but I did learn a lot.
